The first Alfa album opens with A1, a disco-funk number whose feverish feel is thrilling. Recorded in Los Angeles, this album dances coolly with Gene Page's string arrangements yet remains light and supple. The natural medium groove of A4, painted with her flowing vocals, is another pleasure. A3 expresses the exhilaration of entering the ocean's wide space. In the album's flow, the carefully drawn medium-mellow A2, the pleasantly buoyant B1 and the coolly decided medium-tempo B3 fit without a break.
