MOONGLOW

B2, spilling over with soul like a rising full moon, is a tribute to the quiet sea. A2 is a contemporary black disco number; B5 flies at night on rapture and exhilaration. Slipping between them is A3, a mellow mid-tempo samba with the supple rhythms of Yukihiro Takahashi and Haruomi Hosono. Its sliding motion is closer to real singer-songwriter feeling than to Curtis Mayfield’s ‘Rainin’ Through My Sunshine.’ For an instant, the singular voice of Minako Yoshida—who lent a chorus and some lyrics—appears. The cityscape of the night painted in that moment becomes eternal.
