Kazushi Inamura
The review
Born in northern Hokkaido, Kazushi Inamura followed his own route from folk toward a vividly imagined city-pop sound. Recorded during a period of transition, this album brings polished urban arrangements together with the open, northern landscape that runs through his writing.
The sugar-babe-like rush of A3, Tin Pan Alley colors elsewhere, and the cool bossa rock of B5 all belong to the same musical world. B1 turns a Valentine's Day theme into a song whose charm lies in its breezy rhythm and bright chorus. These are city songs that still seem to carry the air of a snowy plain.
