1979 · THE LISTENING ROOM
UP IN THE PINEAPPLE
Hiroshi Kamayatsu
The review
The metropolitan atmosphere of WALK AGAIN gives way to a brighter setting here. Orleans-like warmth and a more buoyant pop sensibility run through the album, with A1 opening onto a soft breeze and A2 carrying a gently offbeat charm.
B1 catches the rhythm of a rain-soaked night, while A4 turns the familiar image of summer rain into something slightly more reflective. The record moves freely between resort-pop lightness and Kamayatsu's own character.
