By the time of WE ARE, Off Course had become a five-piece band with a fully realized sound. The acoustic delicacy of the earlier records remains, but it now sits inside a confident AOR framework: firmer drums, polished keyboards and guitar parts designed as carefully as the vocal harmonies.

The album's scale is larger without sacrificing intimacy. Oda's clear voice and Suzuki's contrasting color move through arrangements that can turn from private confession to wide-screen pop in a moment. The result is elegant, emotionally direct and unmistakably the work of a band at its peak.
