UMIKAZE

Even as an object, this album is beautiful. The jacket turns a sofa drifting on the sea into a faintly surreal image, and the music inside moves with the same unhurried grace. Kaze had already outgrown the narrow frame of folk: mellow West Coast textures, finely balanced vocals and an urban sense of space flow together without strain.

The title track opens the record like a sea breeze entering the room. Elsewhere, the duo's harmonies soften the edges of carefully arranged acoustic instruments, letting small changes of color carry the songs. What remains is not nostalgia but a private landscape—warm, quiet and touched by the light of the late 1970s.
