LONG SLOW DISTANCE

Yasuhiro Suzuki continued his solo career after leaving Off Course. While the synth-heavy production may now sound unmistakably of its time, the clarity of his melodies and the supple ease of his high-register voice have lost none of their appeal.

On B1, he sings of an old love met again at the airport. B2 looks back on love that has passed and nearly faded from memory. Suzuki's assured musicianship could be overshadowed by Kazumasa Oda's enormous popularity, but these songs show why it deserves attention in its own right.
